Career Focus Program
Receive funds to hire an employee!
The objective of the Food Processing HR Council is to ensure a well-skilled, well-trained, mobile workforce in the Canadian food processing industry.
The project will benefit young workers who are presently unemployed or underemployed within the food processing industry. Graduates will be given an opportunity to become employed in the industry. By gaining work experience within their area of expertise, participants will increase their chances of continuing with the sponsoring company after the work term is over or of finding other employment based on their accumulated work experience.
Employers will benefit from the participant’s knowledge of the latest information in their field and the reduced cost of wages. These factors will enable companies to attract and maintain a higher level of skilled worker. This in turn will enable companies to better address the upcoming challenges facing the food processing industry.
The objectives of the Career Focus Program are to:
- Increase the supply of highly qualified people to the food processing sector.
- Demonstrate leadership, in partnership with the Government of Canada, by investing in the skills required to meet both the professional needs of youth and the labour needs of the food processing industry in an evolving economy.
- Help highly skilled young people go from school to work in a rapidly changing labour market.
